New Season Notes

The following things have carried over from the previous Isekai season to the current Isekai season:

- Credit balance + value of item inventory + value of equipment inventory, capped to 1 million

- Leftover trophy value for Snowflake's Shrine

The following things have been added to Persistent:

- Peerless equipment and all soulfused equipment

- Peerless vouchers and equipment cores

- Credit balance + value of item inventory + value of equipment inventory exceeding 1 million

- A primary stat bonus of +1 for reaching Floor 30, +2 for reaching Floor 40, or +3 for reaching Floor 50

- A global damage bonus of 0.1% for each tower floor cleared. (Currently uncapped, but will be capped to Floor 100 starting from this season for sanity reasons.)

- A peerless voucher for everyone who reached Floor 100, or the Top 20 floor clears if fewer than 20 people did:

Update 90

The major addition in this update is a native replacement of HVMarket, simply titled The Market. This addition also replaces Item Backorders.

Unlike Mooglemail and the old item backorders, the Market is available on Isekai for everyone, but to prevent certain types of abuse, placing sell orders is locked for the first 24 hours of each Isekai season.

The Market is a huge bulk of new code (larger than the Monster Lab), so make sure to report it if you encounter any bugs, especially in the trading logic.

The Market can be found under the Bazaar tab.

Note that the equipment changes that were originally scheduled for this update were delayed until the next update.

Market Balance and Account Balance

For various technical reasons, the Market adds a new credit balance to the system named "Market Balance". The profits for sold items and payments for bought items are added to and deducted from the Market Balance rather than your normal credit balance.

You can deposit and withdraw credits from this balance in the top left of the market screen. You do not need a market balance to sell items, but you need to add credits (or sell items) before you can place any buy orders.

Browsing Items

The "Browse Items" tab lets you browse all the tradeable items in the system. On Persistent, obsolete items (i.e. retired+event artifacts and trophies that are no longer obtainable) are hidden by default, but can be shown by clicking the "Show Obsolete Items" checkbox for the applicable item tab.

Items will be listed along with readouts for how many of the item you have in your inventory (i.e. not listed in the market), as well as the current highest per-item market bid and lowest per-item market ask price + total number of the item available for sale in the market.

You can additionally filter items by whether or not you have enough to create (or add more items to) a sell order (1 or 100 depending on the item) and by whether or not there are any items available for sale in the market.

There are two additional tabs for browsing your existing Sell and Buy orders. As the names imply, these will only show items where you have a corresponding order placed. In addition to the information displayed when browsing items, it will also show the count and per-item price for your current order.

Buying and Selling Items

Clicking an items from either the Browse Items or the Buy/Sell Orders tab will take you to the item trading interface. This lets you place a sell and/or buy order, shows a list of the 8 highest bids and 8 lowest asks, as well as price history and the most recent trades for the item.

Staple items (i.e. items that are always available in the item shop) can be traded in the market, even below the item shop sell price. Backorders are not available for these items. (See Item Backorders below.)

Some low-value items are traded in batches, primarily crystals, monster food and some consumables. These are bought and sold in batches of 100. For these items, the prices on the trading screen are all per-batch rather than per-item. Note that all batch items are staple items, but not all staple items are batch items.

The buttons to navigate to the previous/next item follow the same sequence and filtering as the tab you were browsing from, to enable easily placing orders for consequtive series of items.

When placing sell orders, the items are immediately removed from your item inventory. This ensures it is not possible for an order to become invalid by using, trading or otherwise selling the item.

When placing buy orders, you are limited by the credits currently in your market balance, but the credits are not actually committed to each individual order. This means that if you have a market balance of 10000 C, you can place several separate buy orders up to 10000 C each.

If your market balance drops below the total sum for a buy order but is still sufficient to buy at least one item/batch at your bid price, the order will remain active but capped the number you can afford. As such, orders can still be partially filled even if your market balance cannot cover the entire order.

If your market balance ever drops below your per-batch bid price for an order, it will be disabled entirely. Since someone might have placed a sell order at a lower price in the meantime, any disabled buy orders must be manually resubmitted after you deposit more funds or sell some items. Disabled orders will show in red on the My Buy Orders screen, and the Update button will be highlighted in red on the trading screen.

You can click any existing order on the order screen to auto-fill various fields:

- For sell orders, it auto-fills the sell price, buy price, and buy count up to the minimum of the amount available and amount you could afford at the clicked price. Orders shown in red means you have a conflicting sell order at a lower price; clicking these will not auto-fill the buy fields.

- For buy orders, it auto-fills the buy price, sell price, and sell count up to the stock you have in your inventory (including in any existing sell order). Orders shown in red means you have a conflicting buy order at a higher price; clicking these will not auto-fill the sell fields.

If multiple people place an order at the same price, they will be filled in the order they were placed.

You can only place a single sell order and a single buy order for a particular item.

The Market has a 1% fee on Persistent and a 10% fee on Isekai, rounded up. This is deducted from the credits added to the seller's market balance. (In other words, the buyer doesn't pay any fees, which also means that backorders do not incur a fee.)

Important: Using scripts to monitor and modify the price of orders is not allowed. There is a limit to how many orders you can place and/or modify in a certain period of time; exceeding this limit will temporarily lock you out from the market, and hitting this limit repeatedly might get you banned from using it entirely.

Item Backorders

The Market also replaces Item Backorders. Sales of items to the Item Shop will automatically be used to fill market buy orders, as long as the following conditions are filled:

- The account selling the item is different from the account who placed the market buy order. (This prevents selling loops that could have eaten all your credits if you used certain scripts.)

- The bid price is higher or equal to the base Item Shop price. (This price is listed on the market page)

- There is no existing stock of the item in the Item Shop. (You could buy the existing/staple stock from the Item Shop cheaper in this case.)

Like the old item backorders, the seller receives the standard Item Shop sell price regardless of what the item sells for in the market. This prevents certain types of abuse as well as a loophole in the Isekai lockout.

On Isekai, even though sell orders cannot be placed in the first 24 hours, items sold to the Item Shop will be processed right away, so get your buy orders in early for a chance to pick up cheap items!

Other Changes

- Switched player state tracking to a different setup to improve reliability and server maintainability.

- Equipment now keeps the "previously salvaged" flag when transferred from Isekai to Persistent.

- Various shared page elements like the "special" font readouts and filter bars were changed from using floating divs to using flexboxes, which are far easier to work with. This affects hundreds of text readouts, so let me know if you spot any text rendering weirdness on any non-ancient browser.

- Various minor global style/CSS improvements.

Update 2022-06-26

- Added a new Trade Log system that allows you to stalk view the last 1000 trades for both items and traders. Player and item names can both be clicked to navigate between trade logs. If you navigate to the log for a different item than the one you were originally browsing, it will also link to that item's trading page.

- To undercut existing sell orders or overbid existing buy orders, you must now ask at least 1% less or bid at least 1% more than the current best order. If the spread is less than 1%, you can still add a buy order at the same price as the best sell order, and vice versa.

(Since there are at least two ways you could cooperate with someone to bypass these limits, a rule is also added to the system: Placing orders specifically to help other people bypass the minimum overbid/undercut is not allowed. The system logs all orders even if they aren't filled. Please report this behavior should you encounter it.)

- Due to a combination of the undercutting/overbidding mechanics and the higher transparency from the new trade log, the trading fee on Isekai was dropped to the same as on Persistent (1%). If you spot someone trying to abuse the market to move credits or similar, please report it in this thread.

- Removed the informative-only filter selector readouts from the trading page to de-clutter it a bit.

- Existing sell/buy orders are now highlighted in bold down to the depth you have the balance/stock to buy/fill.

- Any existing sell/buy order you have placed is now shown with italic in the order list (assuming it is within the visible depth).

Update 2022-07-04

- The market now lists the itemshop price for staple items.

- Sell orders for staple items must now be listed as less than the itemshop price.

- If you place a buy order for a staple item at or above the itemshop price, this will now automatically fill the order at the itemshop price.

- A global damage bonus of 0.1% for each tower floor cleared. (Currently uncapped, but will likely be capped to Floor 100 starting from this season.)

- A peerless voucher for everyone who reached Floor 100

Does someone who clears 99 Floors (thus reaching Floor 100) get a 9.9% or a 10.0% damage bonus to Persistent?

(I recall there was some discussion with sssss2 and ocd syndrome about this in some prior season, but I searched and can't find that conversation anymore).

It goes by current floor, so if you reached floor 100 you get 10%. Though you do need to clear at least one floor to get a bonus.

10% tax on isekai seems a bit steep? Is there a reason for that? Or perhaps could it be lower for donators?

It just uses the same rate as Isekai MoogleMail CoD.

Missed this. But yeah, you're right, they don't. I kinda forgot that they didn't and manually added some to test stuff. Guess the artifacts tab should be removed from the Isekai market then..

Edit: Should be removed now. Also, let me know if you spot anything that doesn't actually drop on Isekai.

Tested a few things (spoiler: I wasn't able to give myself free money), but I did notice something a slight inconsistency during it

You are unable to make a buy order per item for a quantity/amount greater than what you have deposited (as expected)

If you make a buy order, and withdraw part of the money, the quantity will reduce until it reaches a level where you can afford it based on your current deposited balance (This seems intentional) - this happens without clicking update. The input box will still show what you initially entered, but the available buy order will show the currently max up to your current deposited balance.

There's a case where this doesn't happen, I think it's when you withdraw enough/all of your funds that the valid quantity goes to 0, and completely disappears from the available buy orders. If you then deposit again, it still shows the quantity you've input (in the box you can edit) and cost, but doesn't automatically relist the items, you need to select update. Possibly intentional? Mentioning just because it's slightly different behaviour.

I don't know if the following is intended or not, but currently, you can create buy orders exceeding your current deposited balance, each item you add only checks your current balance, and not your current balance less committed buy orders. So if you have a balance of 400k, you can have buy orders up to 400k on as many items as you want. Presumably, the balance is deducted on a purchase, and any other item that no longer has enough credits will reduce/be removed from buy orders as and when those purchases happen?

The buy orders page shows your inputted order count, and not your current max order count based on your available balance, is that intentional?

Edit: Would it be possible to be able to delete (or even better set quantity/amount) for items on the buy order/sell order pages without opening each individual item?

This is all intentional. Basically, there are a lot of edge cases involved with not committing funds to any particular order (which I wanted to avoid), so the order viewing and matching logic will always consider how much funds each user has in their account when doing either of those, and limits each order to that amount. But it doesn't actually change the order, seeing as a user can have credits added to their balance without doing anything (by having someone buy an item they listed).

The only reason it fully disables a buy order if the balance drops below the per-item bid is that otherwise we could end up in an inconsistent state where, when credits are added to the balance afterwards, said buy order has a bid above the lowest sell order for the item, and resolving that state would be a bit of a pain for various reasons.

Not really, both for UI complexity and technical database reasons. Basically, whenever it needs to create, delete or make changes to an order it has to grab an exclusive database lock for the item in question to prevent concurrency issues, and if you were to try to grab locks for several items at the same time you could easily run into deadlock problems. And because of said specific technical database reasons, you can't just grab one lock at a time, make the change, then release it. Not that there aren't ways around it, but it's not worth the work and complexity involved.

I'd love to know a little more about the technical details here. Is this the syncing mechanism that affects things such as the OFC unlock when you first get enough unique figurines? Is this the reason a market balance exists rather than drawing directly from the regular credit balance like the Hath/GP exchanges, or is that mechanic purely for usability?

It's just the state of the game for each player, including semi-persistent data like your current stamina, information that only lasts for the duration of a battle like what monsters you are fighting and their states, and various cached data to avoid recalculating a bunch of stuff for every action. OFC unlocks would be one of the latter.

That mostly exists because Persistent and Isekai have different credit systems, and it was pretty much impossible to make things work cleanly without adding a separate balance for the market. At the very least, having it work without committing credits to each buy order would have been a major headache.
