I thought it would be nice to have a centralized isekai equipment auction. So I created a Do-It-Yourself auction thread. You can post your isekai equipment auction there.
Let me know what you think, in this thread. I'll keep the auction thread clean of posts that aren't auctions or bids
What I'll do is: - manage the centralized timer - delete any unrelated posts / comment posts / shitposts / too early bids etc - manage the rules-section of the auction - create an overview of all the auction lots, sorted by equipment type - create an overview of the winning bids
Benefits for you as auctioneer and/or buyer: - Visibility: this auction is pinned, and I'll create the winning bid overview - No chance of your auction falling off the first page of the isekai trade thread - The thread is kept clean of irrelevant posts - at end of auciton, you can see the winning bids - Equipment is kept in your own account, no need to send it to an auctioneer
If you like the auction, feel free to let me know

I think a little more explanation is needed regarding these two rules : CODE - Only materials! - Also: No equipments! Does "materials" means everything that is not an equipment, or just "materials" as L/M/H cloth, leather, etc.? Probably also bindings and forging rares+catalysts. But what about trophies, are they considered materials too ? And obsoletes ? I see most of these in your examples, so I count that as a yes; but an explicit yes/no list would be foolproof. So what does this have that super's auction doesn't? It even takes place during the exact same time, so wouldn't people just sent their trophies, bindings or whatever to super? You obviously need to have value of at least 50k, so this here would work below.
If this is something in exchange for HVMarket, I'm not sure I quite understand what this is about. Maybe just me.

My WTB is currently empty. Nice to have a Market back.

Supers auction can hold only so much stuff due to post limits, before hvmarket there was a problem with auctions having very few equips because it was too bloated with materials every week.

Maybe we can shorten the auction periods? For example we can have 2 or 3 auctions every week. 7 days seems to be too long for a trade compared to hvmarket, and the price would fluctuate less if people trade more frequently.
ps: I would be really happy if I could help create the auction script, but I think maybe Superlatanium can do 99% of the work?

good idea. For the first time, I think it's better to let it run for a bit longer, to give people a chance to see how it works

Is there a rule for what items can be combined into one lot? Your examples of crystal packs and same tier trophies make sense to be grouped together. Maybe different figurines could be bunched together too. For these example it's easy to calculate price per item. However, someone might want to sell scroll of swiftness/protection/shadows together (or avatar with gods) since they're usually used together, but their different prices would make price per item a bit more complicated.
Also big thanks for putting this together.

Can you edit your "to auction" post throughout the week? Like if I put some trophies now I'm able to add whatever I get later as long as it's before supers?

Maybe we can let the new post overwrite the old post if they hold the same auction id. For example a post with "[Test01] 1x test item" will replace an earlier post with "[Test01] 1x another item", but in this way we have to restrict people from selecting arbitrary auction id, or we can let the script decide if the overwriting is legal: one can only overwrite their own auction post.

In a lot, you can put together wathever you want. But I think it's easiest for the buyer if everything in the same lot has the same value per unit. that way you can easily calculate per unit. It could be that you don't get that much bids on complex lots, because the price is too high or the calculation is too complex. But no rules against that. Yes you can! You can change lots until Thursday, when the first timer runs out. You can edit all you want. Editing after you get bids would make life extremely hard for buyers though. But I guess I can allow it if you add new lots after Thursday 14:00h. The only risk is that people don't notice the additions. Let's see if we get a script, and what it does. But I suspect it's always easiest to start a new thread for every auction. Just like Super's. If we re-use the same thread, it's gonna be a lot of work going through the bid list to see if the 'script-we-hope-to-have' didn't miss anything.

Alright posted one, but another question. For the [Snowflake03] Lot of Schoolgirl Trophies (start: 500k) example it says to use our usernames, but mine has a space so is it necessary to add the space to Snowflake part or is it ok to leave it as I posted it. Don't think it matters that much or does it for script purposes?

The script works with what you did. Because you'll be the one sending the items, not the script, the actual name doesn't matter. But I'd say it's convenient for everyone if the item name shows the seller. And in your case, it does that perfectly.

We need an open-source reimplementation of HVMarket, and a rule about how people running essential services must share the server keys with the other mods. There should not be only one person who knows the code base and how to operate it.

true. But we don't have that. And we can't force anyone to share the server keys. Basically, any essential service must be part of the game and managed by tenboro.

QUOTE(Noni @ Mar 29 2022, 07:00) And we can't force anyone to share the server keys. There is a lever. HVMarket requires a special-purpose account. Bot accounts are a privilege, not a right. Tenboro can set any conditions he wants in exchange for allowing it, including that multiple people must have access to the server. In the past, some people wouldn't use HVMarket because there was a tax. This is much worse than a tax. Untold millions of credits worth of items have been locked up, possibly forever, as a result of the hasty shutdown not working right. The only reason we don't know how much we're out is that we didn't keep a backup list of what we had on server, because of how tedious it would have been. There is no point using HVMarket to get somewhat better profits than the forums if you subsequently lose all your gains, because you were reinvesting them in more items to sell, as we were encouraged to do, to be "market makers". Even if it came back right now, I don't see people trusting it again, unless there is more of a guarantee that it's not going to disappear and take the vitally important metadata with it, without which even Tenboro can't give people their items back. We can't force people to use HVMarket either, and right now it's like playing Russian roulette with your entire inventory. I can think of a handful of things that would result in someone going totally incommunicado in the smartphone era, and none of them are good. At least the metadata on item submissions, withdrawals and sales must be streamed in real time to at least one backup server so we know who owns what in HVMarket's account. It could be reconstructed from the MoogleMail logs, but there's only one person who can do that and he probably doesn't have time. Another solution would be to add an actual_owner field to the HV item database. Items sent to an item-pooling account like HVMarket would have it set, making it easy to send everything home again. The bot would attach the actual seller's items to outgoing MoogleMails. This post has been edited by Necromusume: Mar 30 2022, 03:04

Okay let's keep doing this another week. With some improvements: 1. We'll try to sort the auction by type of item - this is done by volunteers, who copy all forum posts into a text editor
- select all auction posts with [quote+] and then [reply]
- copy everything into a text editor and sort manually
- post the sorted auction list in this thread, so I can move it to the auction
- use 2 posts if the list is too long, I can fix that in the auction
- timing is hardest part I guess, but I think we can start with unsorted auction and change to sorted auction some hours later
2. I won't be doing a separate auction for myself / commission auction. Just DIY We don't have a solution yet for the 'price per item' function. I think the python script could be modified to find the amounts per item, but then we need to combine that with the highest bids as well. Any help with the python coding would be appreciated. If you want to volunteer for the sorting, let me know! Anyone can do it, and we just need one person per auction to do it. Just reply here if you would like to volunteer for this week.
