Hello everyone, I am pretty jealous of how so many of you editors have nice sfx text and expressive sfx. Can I get good tips to make my sfx look better and some nice fonts to consider using instead of my usual manga temple.

Do you have any handy plugins for GIMP that might be worthwhile too. Or any tips for me.

You see, I'm learning to colorize and I'm working in a short story to begin with, so I want your opinion about it, especially about backgrounds since they have no a rule about color and can be anything, do you like my choice?





Plus, is it necessary to color the full black or white parts as eyes or in this case, the slime?

This is God Revan from the D-Moe Editorial group and I have a serious requests here. Does anyone know how to take a background texture to save and use it to post it in bubbles? Currently, I've taken the latest Ankoman/Astolfo Hotsrping doujin and I've always been stumped with how to replicate the black bubble with white specks all over. I tend to just leave them fully black but sometimes I can manage with the Spot Heal on rare occasions. I'm using Photoshop CC 2015 as my main working program.

Just redraw the texture.

Outline the bubble with a black brush, fill in the white left over from cleaning the SFX, then replicate the white spots with a white spray brush.

Here’s what I’d do.

-Lasso tool the hearts and cut them via new layer so they’re out of the way. Make sure it gets enough of their pixels, etc.

-Black brush to fill in the main bubble there to it’s edges and inside by removing the old text.

-White brush for text outside the boundary of the bubble.

-Try to use those little slanted brush tips if you have them for the spiky edging, if not use the lasso tool to make spiky edges.

-From there use the clone stamp to fix the pieces outside the bubble and then on the inside to do the white spots.

-Add your text and use a similar stroke for your newly placed hearts.

Ok so I found some options that can help me digging through the Brush section. Some are close but not to what Ankoman uses. Been testing some out to see which one will be the best to replicate this design.



Some of the results were lack luster with one being very close but not bright enough. This was the only one that was "roughly" ok.


EDIT: I figured out how to make the brush using the example but it came out not good.

EDIT 2: Ok thank for your help. I figured something out that's kinda bootleg and annoying but kinda helps resolve my issue. I'm taking a stock image that I made by copy pasting various segments of the design together, save it as an image itself and then use it as a resource over the bubbles. I have to directly delete the background itself and have the resource under the layer itself so it looks good.

Don't sweat it too hard. Once you start adding the text, it'll mask a lot of this anyway.

About upscaling images, I am trying to edit a doujin but the pages are in low res, its fine to use the waifu2x page or there is somewhere I can download it as a program? Or another recommendation for upscaling is fine, thanks.

It's probably easier to use the page.

If you really want to give it a try to install it on your PC than there is one essential question: Do you have a NVIDIA GPU?

If the answer is no, then you can't.

If the answer is yes, then you can try to get more info and download here: [github.com] https://github.com/nagadomi/waifu2x

But it looks very complicated.

Thought I replied to this. Are the pages literally too small with small dimensions, or is it just the resolution to where your font size is forced into 5px to look normal?
