Ah hello guys, i'm newbie here at g.e-hentai. I used to be cleaner at twilight dream scans and taking a break due to real life works but now i'm ready to do some works again (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I can do cleaning and editing but now currently a freelancer. I do mind when it comes to guro, sukatoro, mindbreaking, i can do any kind of genre including yaoi and shota (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm new to formal editing, but have been around a while. I owe my rapid improvement to Lightshader for taking me under his wing.

Apart from editing and typesetting, I can also proofread at a college level. (It's one of the only things my English degree is good for these days (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )

I do know some basic (let me stress BASIC) Japanese. I can't do much more than translate sound effects and moans, but I have been able to spot an error in translation now and then.

And don't give up learning Japanese. We need more people who are proficient in both English and Japanese. Too often, I run into people who know Japanese, but have never heard of comma splices, parallelism, and et cetera.

Also, keep watching Japanese shows. It doesn't matter whether you can't understand without subtitles right now. One day, it'll just sink in like magic.

I've done a few edits and I think I'm getting pretty good at it. I'm freelance and plan on staying that way so I only have to worry about editing stuff I really like, the way I like. I'll edit under the following conditions:

Project isn't too long, less than 50 pages and doesn't have a lot text over pictures.
Translator doesn't mind letting me make it sound good. I hate boring translations.
Story contains adequate amounts of Shota, Mature, BBW, Femdom, Masturbation, Bestiality, Yuri or Yaoi.

I'm already at that stage. I can understand probably about 60-70% of what is said and the rest can usually be figured out through the context. Like you said, it really seemed like magic when I randomly realized I could understand what was being said without the subtitles. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The main obstacle I've run up against is the convoluted writing system. I can scrape by with a basic knowledge of hiragana and katakana, but kanji make my head spin. Is rote memorization the only real way to learn them?

But I'm still not better than you in this regard, so I can't really give advice—I've never sat down to memorize any kanji.

So when I translate, I need a dictionary to figure out how a kanji is read. Although since I've been doing this for a while, there are some kanji that I recognize at merely a glance.

I started off loosely translating bits of text from a Japanese Wiki of a game. And then I seriously started handling translation requests over at Danbooru—usually just a sentence or two per image. Later, I got bored of that, and moved over here to work on whole chapters or volumes. My scripts have a few minor mistakes at worst, so I think I've been improving well on the go.

I think you pretty much need some kind/extent of memorization, as a base at least. It helps a LOT, anyway. I don't know about you, but I don't know how I would have done any memorization if I hadn't taken Japanese classes.

At the very least, if you've got the kana down pat, you can try reading some manga with furigana. Just like you watch anime and eventually realize you understand a lot without the subtitles, if you read enough, you'll soon enough start recognizing the more common kanji. If you get past only reading stuff with furigana, you may have to look up some kanji as you go...if you find yourself having to look up LOTS of kanji, you may want to try to guess which parts you can skip (if you guess wrong, you can always go back to it) just so it doesn't get too tedious.

Another thing you can read is hentai! =P Hentai is usually relatively sparse on dialogue and low on complexity, so you'll probably be looking things up less often and remembering readings more easily. It's also a fine way to exercise your kana reading. =P

If you want to know kanji well, learn the radicals and their meanings first. It'll give you good intuition. (Learning Chinese is very helpful for this.)

The Heisig method made me a pro.

Learning a new word is quite easy now.

There's still the occasional ones outside of the general ones that through me though.

I have Translated only three things it took me along long time to do
so i can translate but it would be a long time.
Well one out of the three was a edit the person who did it messed up bad.
I know germen and alittle japan.
If you did give me some thing to translate it would have to be germen.
It would not be 100 on the spot good but hay.
