Some time ago I remembered about dead internet theory.
Which got me curious if I could test this theory.
I made a post containing only a image on a show on a 4chan /co/ board with instructions in the image to only post text in images instead of plain text replies.
The result: [

https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/143750340/#143750833Onto something else, the "old internet" is pretty much dead except those whom cling to the stereotypical nostalgia.
And that's fine with me. What I do not like is the new garbage that took its place.
For example Youtube changed for the worse, that much we can hopefully all agree.
Though its exact cause is up for debate. But my guess would be that "once a metric becomes a target is ceases to be a good metric", that is to say Youtube creators optimizing for Youtube's recommendation engine.
And what of the once beloved search engine, Google?
I reverse searched a image the other day and google gave me a bunch of pintrest results because pintrest seems to be good at search engine optimization *cough* metric became a target *cough*.
And another thing, people have stopped creating new websites in favor of in-site communities. Such as Sub-reddits or Discord Servers.
Whilst I do have my gripes, I understand the reasoning behind it. Why bother setting up a forum or heck, even a custom website when the alternative is free and easy. But I do wonder if there was still a price paid.
*Insert segment about Tiktok here*
Anyway, maybe It'll get better with time, but really, I expect the worst but hope for the best.
Thanks for reading this old man rant.
