New Season Notes (2021 S2 -> 2022 S1)

The following things have carried over from the previous Isekai season to the current Isekai season:

- Credit balance + value of item + equipment inventory, capped to 1 million

- Leftover trophy value for Snowflake's Shrine


The following things have been added to Persistent:

- Peerless equipment and all soulfused equipment

- Any unspent peerless vouchers

- Credit balance + value of item + equipment inventory exceeding 1 million

- Primary stat bonuses and a global damage bonus depending on the number of tower floors cleared

- A peerless voucher for everyone who reached Floor 100, or Top 20 Floor Clears:

Isekai Changes

- Minor correction to the difficulty calculation for Tower difficulty. It should now actually reach PDUFOR at Floor 40 rather than a few floors earlier.

- The season rewards (Peerless Voucher) for The Tower now cap out at reaching (not necessarily clearing) Floor 100, or Top 20 if less than 20 people reach Floor 100. A toplist will still be posted at the end of each season, and you can still proceed past Floor 100, but it is only for bragging rights.

- You can now attempt/clear The Tower 5 times per day until you reach Floor 20.

- The stat bonus thresholds are now for reaching the floor rather than clearing it, since the readout makes it a bit confusing.


Riddlemaster

The pony riddles are now multiple-choice and can have several correct answers. The generated image will always show three ponies; these can all be the same pony, or be two or three different ponies. To solve the riddle, check all the ponies you see in the image and hit Submit Answer within the time limit.

The riddlemaster no longer tells you if the answer is correct or not. It will always give the buff if you answer within the time limit, as well as the heal if the answer is given within the bonus time limit, both of which were adjusted. A spirit heal was also added.

Instead of valuating answers as binary "right" or "wrong" it will internally calculate an accuracy score based on how many unique ponies were displayed and how many right and wrong answers you made. Instead of docking stamina directly, the recent average of these accuracy scores is used interally to adjust the per-battle stamina cost. If your accuracy is low enough to sustain a stamina penalty, the "Stamina" readout at the top of the screen will show in red.

If you fail to answer within the time limit, you will be docked 10 stamina directly regardless of your riddle history. (It will not affect the per-round stamina cost.)

If you do not submit the answers to the riddle within the time limit, it will automatically submit it and use the checked answers unless the answer is more than a couple seconds overdue; if it is, it will be considered a blank answer for accuracy purposes. You do not get the buff in the latter case.

The obfuscation factors (blobbiness and graininess) are now dynamic and adjusted interally based on various factors, primarily your level and how much you played lately. Most other aspects of the generation have also been reworked.

Because the images are all randomly generated, you may occasionally (rarely?) encounter jumbled riddles that are difficult or near-impossible to fully discern. Due to this, you will still keep the normal stamina consumption up to some margin of error.

In other words, while it is more difficult to answer perfectly, it is also more forgiving of occasional mistakes.

Detailed internal numbers (accuracy calculations/requirements, stamina cost factors, obfuscation factor thresholds etc) are not disclosed and no readout will be provided for them.

Note that soliciting people to submit riddle images with answers as well as providing such are now bannable offenses - riddle images can be traced to the account they were generated for. (This doesn't disallow "look at this stupidly impossible riddle lol" kind of posts at a small scale.)


Salvaging

When salvaging Legendary and Peerless equipment, you will now gain "Equipment Cores" - these will be used for a future mechanics where you can improve the base stats of legendary and peerless equipment. See "Future Changes to Equipment Mechanics" below.

There are six types of Equipment Cores; Legendary/Peerless, corresponding to the equipment quality, and Weapon/Staff/Armor, corresponding to the equipment type. Shields count as Armor for this mechanics.

"Rare" equipment types (Phase/Shade/Power Armor as well as Force Shields) give 5 cores, while other equipment types all give 1 core.

Equipment Cores obtained in Isekai will be transferred to Persistent at the end of each season.

Peerless Cores are not tradeable, primary due to the lottery, which when this update hits persistent will have an alternative 1st prize with cores based on the equipment 1st prize. Legendary Cores may however be traded freely.


Misc

- IW stamina cost now rounds to the nearest .1 decimal rather than rounding up to the closest whole digit.

- The base durations for most debuff spells was significantly increased.

- When shrining trophies for armor, you can now select the armor slot of the generated equipment. (The new UI also saves 1 whole click over the old way.)

- Catalysts are no longer tradeable. They will likely be retired in the future, with the forge charging credits directly instead.

- The limit for primary attribute reassignments was removed. You can now freely reassign EXP at any time.

- Replaced the old "system message" popup. You can now click anywhere to dismiss it, and it no longer lets you click through to the background outside the box.

- Various UI tweaks and improvements.


Future Changes to Equipment Mechanics

Future updates will rework the internals of how equipment is generated and stored to, among other things, allow base stats improvements. Base stat improvements will be limited to Legendary and Peerless equipment only; the ultimate goal being to increase the odds of being able to obtain the ultimate equipment set to a level slightly above "mathematically insignificant" while still preserving the value of existing equipment and not making any existing ways to obtain equipment pointless.

The long and short of it is that with a lot of credits (in the hundreds of millions range) and legendary cores, or a lot of peerless cores, you will be able to turn a Legendary equipment into a Peerless equipment. Peerless equipment will (probably) also be possible to upgrade further.

The "base stat improvement" and "upgrade" mechanics are separate, though there will be various changes to the "upgrade" mechanics as well; you will no longer be "upgrading" stats individually, and tweaks will be made so that "upgrading" below-Legenday equipment is still viable. Existing upgrades will be converted, but I'll get back to the details on that later.

All existing equipment will be converted to the new system, and there should not be any differences between old and new equipment. After the conversion to the new system, any future changes to equipment can also be made retroactively, meaning that the concept of "prepatch" and "postpatch" equipment will no longer be a thing. Various disabled equipment types will also be re-enabled as rare drops.

These changes will also involve replacing the existing "potency" mechanics with a different (less random) system. Existing unlocked potencies will not carry over in any way. The Item World will basically work like The Tower, and will be used to increase an equipment's upgrade cap.

Due to the scale of the changes, it is unlikely that it all makes it into one update. Until the changes have been fully implemented, the updates will be deployed to Isekai only. In other words, this won't be be relevant for Persistent for at least one year.

When the changes eventually reach Persistent, it will no longer be possible to get a refund on upgrades by salvaging, due to a combination of conversion complexity and the fact that equipment stats will be permanently altered. You will of course have the option to do until the updates make it to Persistent.

Further details will be made available as the updates are deployed to Isekai.

After doing some more tests in incognito mode of chrome (allowed extension: Tampermonkey with Monsterbation 1.4.1.2 only) as suggested in discord,
the current version of Monsterbation works fine with both ajax options on without any mentioned problem yesterday (disabled submit button and missing of count down value) in both Persistent and Isekai.

I finally found out that it is an extension (Ruffle) I am using that causes the conflict.
Since there are a couple of players having the same problem in the Isekai 0.89 thread, probably they have other extensions or scripts that cause the problem.
I'd suggest to turn off both ajax options as a workaround or try those extensions/scripts in incognito mode to find out the conflicting extension/script.

It's probably because you have checked the options of ajax in Monsterbation:

Also, if you are using the dark style css, there is an update for it to fix the count down value being so dark originally and appears as invisble in a dark background.

Well I think I am doing even worse and may have crossed over into a higher stamina penalty.

Currently it appears I use a stamina every ten rounds which seems high. Unless I am mistaken I think ~60 rounds in tower was about 3 stamina. Today 70 rounds took 7 stamina.

I really hate the this new system. Under the old one I would occasionally screw up and lose a Stamina. Now there seems to be a cumulative effect for every wrong answer or missed third pony that just seems to snowball over time. Plus I am not even sure what I got wrong when. I think part of my issue is I tried taking more chances on guessing the last pony and seem to be doing worse now so I guess a wrong selection is worse than no selection but you do get punished either way. You don't get any feedback to work off of. Other than the fact that I am now in a hole that appears impossible to dig out of, I have no idea when I have made mistakes. Prior to the red appearing I thought I was doing quite well which I obviously wasn't and trying to adjust probably just made things worse.

FWIW, as Xeda pointed out to me privately as they were confused about their accuracy, some versions of HV Utils apparently colors the stamina readout red for unknown reasons, so there's that.

This is a decent idea, in line with my suggestion back then, to use other legendary items to upgrade base stats on other legendaries.

All the credits and amnesia shards spent to IW some items will not be back, and what will be back is a blank item with no potencies.
Also, people who relied on services and then soulbound the equipment will be forced to keep an item with IW0 or have to redo all the work by themselves with no option to use a proxy service anymore.

You could just reduce your pabs by the same amount of agility that was upgraded in your equipment (free reassignment as well), which is more exp to stick on whatever else. Not sure whats bad about it

Everyone, there is hope, I was expending 6 or more stamina clearing the tower and the last arenas, now I finally got rid of the penalty!

It really helps knowing it is better not to try and guess those ninja ponies that don't even look like a living thing.

Even so I still think the new riddlemaster should be improved a bit, if you have a streak of ninja ponies you end up falling in the stamina penalty hole, where you can play less rounds and get less riddles, leading you to stay penalized for days.

This is a NO-NO, people spent million on equipments IW, is not something that can be reversed.

UNLESS....

1) The path to make the IW you want is much more easy

2) You can IW Equipped equipments

3) There will be a compensation to everything that is lost... but i even don't know ho to calculate this, expecially for Staffs and Double Proficiency Armors.

Even J5C5 is like... $6 - $7 real money. It's not a fortune. We had the use of it for years. It's crazy that people will spend so long doing item world for so little money.

So you need to have a B tier equip to swap in for every slot, big woop. 1/6 equips at a time being B tier is not going to slow you down that much. Especially if we no longer have to do 200+ runs.

It was never intended for new item world to be torturous. When potencies were first introduced, they were supposed to be pure upside, and quick to do. Your equipment got potencies that it never had before, and you did it once, then you were done. It was supposed to end the old system of having to IW your equipment continually to keep it at your level, while still keeping IW somewhere in the game.

Then, within a couple of days, the players decided that they wanted perfect potencies. They asked for a way to reset, and got amnesia shards. The players turned it into obsessive-compulsive torture all by themselves.

Needing to spend 1m-4m on IW service before you can use an equip because the game is now balanced around having Op5 on melee weapons (non-1H), J5 on armors and P5S4 on staves and you can't do it yourself, is a gameplay problem that merits addressing. It never interacted well with soulbinding at all. It matters more now that we have Isekai for reasons that ought to be obvious. People don't have their perfect rigs from Persistent for IWing, and it's not worth the time or effort for equipment that will evaporate, yet the game has still grown to be balanced around having certain potencies.

Honestly, Some potencies are quite bad, I began working on a legendary shortshord in Isekai and the first three potencies were Overpower, now I have a legendary shortsword with 12% counterparry, that honestly I don't even know how it exactly works as I can't find any explanation on the wiki, my understanding is that I can avoid a monster parry, but monsters can only parry with a 10%? chance at most if fully updated, so If I have a 12% chance to counter parry them the potency sounds useless.

Nah, it's multiplicative - if the monsters have 20% parry chance and you have 12% counter-parry, then it's
CODE
0.2 * (1 - 0.12) = 0.176
- so they'd have a 17.6% chance to parry you.

The maximum parry is around 27% - monsters gain parry from dex, just like players, as well as their Chaos rank.

Overpower is by far the best potency for non-1H melee, and the only reason it's not the best for 1H is because the Overwhelming Strikes proc grants counter-parry also. But because it's hard to keep that up 100% of the time, I still use Overpower on my 1H weapons for record runs, and I've still found it to be the best by a small amount.

In my case, observing my notes, between the beginning of 2017 and the end of 2021, I spent with IW Service exactly 45,908,670 credits, plus 1,973 Amneia Shards (sent by me at the end of the service). faint.gif I guess this will not return. heh.gif

I just hope Tenboro accepts my idea to first reset all equipment, then return 100% of the forge material to the inventory, and only then perform the conversion to the new system. rolleyes.gif Otherwise, if the material does not return (as described in the initial post), I will lose a gigantic amount of materials (I have many forged equipment). faint.gif faint.gif faint.gif

I don't think thiss will hit upgraded euipments.

For the upgrade part i think you will keep the equipment as they are, if you willingly reforge them after the change you will get no materials.

But at the current moment i thin everything is too confusionary to talk about it, we need to wait and see what 10B final strategy will lokk like.

I think we have made mistakes in understending, i don't think he will simply swipe away hours of work and a lot of credits and even real money, if that will be the case i fear fo the ones that have made dual potency of armors with J5 and a single proof (like Holyproof 5).
