As a longstanding bounty-poster and member in general on this website of over 10 years, I made the error in judgment in assuming that there exists some sort of standard for quality requirement in claiming a bounty. Apparently I was dead wrong as Tenboro ruled against my dispute:

Generally, if you have specific quality requirements, you need to specify that. This would have been considered average quality a few years back. If they were literally thumbnail-sized and unreadable I would still have rejected it, but I can read the kanji on that without any particular effort.

It even says it on the bounty page.

Remember to be specific. Bounties like "Requesting Super Dwarf Princess Hentai" is not very specific, and any bounty claim featuring anything that matches would be accepted; bounties like "Any Super Dwarf Princess Hentai I don't have" would require an actual list; and so on. If you have any minimum quality/resolution demands, make sure to include this as well.

So, in short; don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Seeing as that's the case, specifying a resolution in and of itself is not enough of a deterrent for such abuse and would have served literally no purpose in this particular case whatsoever. This then begs the question as to why anyone should ever have to specify no blown up preview images for their bounties.

RtS, you get what you ask for. It's not a big job for the bounty poster to note something along the lines of "Only good quality scans of x by y minimum resolution will be accepted".

How exactly do you expect bounty claimers and mods to know what kind of quality *you* consider acceptable when you don't write *anything* about it in the bounty request, *despite* the bounty system telling you *specifically* that you have to do so? So you're either skirting my rebuttal entirely or do you mean to tell me that stretched preview images constitute acceptable bounty claims? Because that's what you ruled in favor of. Coinciding with your initial point, what's to say that had I asked for 1500 pixels or 3000 pixels instead that he wouldn't have just stretched it to either of those resolutions? Stretching the image to 3000 pixels and I can still read the kanji too.

Deliberately allowing the bounty system to be abused as such is nothing short of unhealthy for it and basically invites and encourages people to take advantage of it.

Either:

- Put a Rank A (I don't think he'll reach that) to accept and state that lower ranks have to PM you showing you the files beforehand

- Instead of a pixel requirement, put a requirement of quality: you'll not accept anything worse than the preview pic

That should do the trick.

About the rest, I totally agree with you, but they're technically right since they're not going against any rule, sadly.

Blaming Ten is not going to go well.

The RAW is medium quality, but it is not low quality. As Ten said, this would be ok few years back. Today we like high res scans... but if that's what you want, say so in your bounty. Specify min, quality res, outlaw resizes/waifu, say that you have a final call on quality, etc.

If I got this for my bounty request, I wouldn't be ecstatic, but I'd accept it. It's readable, it's fappable, and with some work, editable.

I recommend you add some requirement about high quality / high res to your bounties if you don't want such mediocre stuff.

@RtS: Maybe you should've chose for it to be uploaded outside the site, like Mediafire, maybe that way you could still reject the claim. IDK if it's allowed though.

If by "blaming Ten" you mean acknowledging his factual ruling in favor of stretched preview images as the substance of an acceptable bounty claim, then feel free to take up your issue of such with the man himself. If it rains and I acknowledge it to be raining, then where exactly is the negative connotation there? Rather, if you feel something wrong with the matter, then logic dictates that you're merely displacing it onto the person who's merely acknowledging that the matter does in fact exist.

I'm sorry, but you either legitimately didn't examine the entire contents of this discussion or you're intentionally falsifying. This is the "RAW":

It is an actual official PREVIEW IMAGE of the doujinshi in question at 820 vertical pixels. The bounty claimer literally stretched the image in question to 1008 vertical pixels (as per the obvious distortion that goes along with it which is further obvious when you compare the two images with each other).

A quick glance as people passing off preview images as gallery uploads will easily give you an understanding of this community's majority opinion on such.

I don't think that disingenuously (← I'm assuming here) stating that you personally would accept preview images stretched to 1008 vertical pixels for your very own bounties will do to serve you well, and I suggest that you amend your statement as you then leave yourself open to such with citation should you choose to dispute such after the fact. Saying something like that was just very much not in your favor unless you actually mean it; in which case I'm sorry but I still don't see that to be very much in your favor at all.

That is correct. I wouldn't want what happened to me happen to any other bounty poster.

Manipulating the system to only allow abuse from the bounty poster end rather than the bounty claimer end however does not serve to make the system any less open to abuse.

If it really is a preview image set then can you give proof that all 10 images were already online (and not just Mandrake snapshots with a camera)? Or can you show a database that says the doujin is supposed to be more than 10 images? (I can't find evidence of either.) You could make a better case if you had said something about wanting crisp quality and high resolution and DPI in your post.

And having it expunged proves what, exactly? You cleaned up his upload, but minor edits to improve quality are not allowed in the galleries.

An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Make sure to specify everything beforehand or suffer the consequences.
